About Me - Brandon Kelley

Brandon Kelley Beard Growing
My name is Brandon Kelley and I was born and raised in SW Louisiana. I graduated from Kinder High School in 1999, LSU-Eunice in 2001, and McNeese State University in 2022. I know, that's a long gap between education. That is because I took a job in Tacoma, WA with a single course left required on my dual major in Mathematics and Computer Science. I completed the course at Pacific Lutheran University in 2004 and thought I had done so poorly that I hadn't made the required 'C' in the class. I didn't find out until years later that I actually had made a 'C' in the class.

At the time I did not care because I was working in the Numismatics industry building websites, servers, workstations, networks, and database systems for various business in Numismatics. I also did all of the coin photography, the writing up of all of the historical and important features of the coins we sold, and was the lead salesman and procurement specialist (I knew where to find the gems).

After working for 12 years in the Numismatics industry, I became a Technology Specialist for the JDP School board. I was the primary contact for all of the technology in the parish, primarily 5 schools.

During my tenure in JDP, I created the software that managed our work order system at the technology center and for the maintenance department. This code was written primarily in .ASP cassic, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SQL, and PowerShell. When Covid hit, we went to becoming a Google parish, so I got my certification as a Google Certified Educator Level 1 and Level 2. Since we were a google parish, we purchased over 5,000 chromebooks for the students to use on a 1-1 basis. This means every student in the parish had a chromebook. Now, think of the combination of chromebooks and kids. They WILL break! So I created a software system with a database back-end to track and manage these Chrome devices on our network. I also had to design a system for tracking chromebook repairs and Dell RMA requests.

During the 2016 Floods in East Louisiana (and some here), I created the disaster relief group "Cajun Green Cross". We worked for 16 weeks gutting flooded homes and feeding those affected. We effectively fed over 50,000 meals in those 16 weeks. After Harvey, we fed the evacuees in various hotels across SW Louisiana. During Hurricane Laura, we cooked lunch and dinner for 4 weeks and fed the residents of Elton serving over 5,000 meals to them, linemen, national guard workers, and for a couple of weeks, the community of Lacassine.

After I earned my A+ certification (Hardware & Software) along with my Google IT Professional Certification, I decided that teaching was something I really wanted to do. I would be very careful as a technician to teach the teachers in our parish how to fix technology and how it worked which obviously made my job a little easier. If the teachers could fix their own trivial problems, I could focus on the larger ones, and a few of my own hobbies such as Graphic Design, Cast Iron Restoration, Painting, and Cooking.

P.S. I designed the Logo that Jefferson Davis Parish currently uses, along with the logo for Elton High School.
